Letters to the Editor

Abstract

Dear Patricia:

Your Editor's Page in the Fall 1987 issue of the Journal prompted me to do something that I don't do often enough...write a letter to pat someone on the back for a job well done. In fact, it's so good that you could have put that turquoise cover on it and sent it on its way.

I make it a point to write about a two-page review of each Journal issue and then send it out to the counties and specialist departments. I've found that it greatly increases readership and discussion. When I opened the Fall 1987 issue, your editorial page said everything there is to say about Extension work. In these difficult times, it's so easy to forget our real mission and purpose. Thank you for hauling us up short and making us think.

With your permission, I would like to use it as a handout for every new Extension worker we hire. It explains in a nutshell why we exist.

Like the words of a good sermon, you reminded me of my own professionalism. Thanks for stepping on my toes.
