CE Unit in AAACE

Abstract

James S. Long
Staff Development Specialist
Washington State University - Pullman

A newer tool in our trade is a professional association-the Cooperative Extension Unit in the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE).

Members of AAACE may sign up for the CE Unit, which was initiated in 1981. Since then, the unit's national and regional meetings have emphasized a range of in-service education topics: computers as a farm tool, dealing with the stress of change outside-and inside-Extension, strategic planning, the adequacy of Extension's research base, and the role of Extension in agricultural technology transfer.

Its 1984 national meetings were held in conjunction with the AAACE conferences in Louisville, Kentucky.

Our chair in 1985 is Clarence Cunningham, Ohio State University, and our vice-chair is Terry Gibson, University of Wisconsin-Extension. Gibson is also program chair of the 1985 pre-conference workshop scheduled for Novembers-6, 1985, in Milwaukee, again as part of the AAACE annual conference.

Regional representatives are:

  • Fred Peabody, Michigan State University
  • Barbara Taylor, University of Florida
  • James Long, Washington State University
  • Illa Harris, University of Maryland
